I love color! I typically love more deep rich colors, but I think every color has a place in the world. Color plays into a lot of things in my life. Some colors are sentimental because they remind me of special people or moments in my life. As a costume designer I’m constantly thinking about the colors of things and what each of those colors mean or represent in every moment of a character’s story. In fact, I do a lot of pretty obsessive research on color theory for every film I work on. It’s borderline ridiculous!

Since I’m the only character I’m dealing with these days thanks to quarantine, I took to my closet to hunt down some colorful inspiration. I styled out some new looks for myself to consider when I choose to step back out into the world and break free from the black legging uniform that I’m currently sporting these days. But, what else am I to do with all these new found looks for now but share them with you, right!?!

Let’s starts with my favorite color...RED. I love red. Red grabs your attention. It offers you an incredible range of emotion and meaning. It’s bold and strong, passionate and aggressive. Sometimes, it stops you in your tracks and warns you of danger ahead. Other times, it lures you into a trance that you never want to escape.

When I wear red I feel strong and vibrant. I’m reminded of the beauty I possess and of my power to lure.

What does red bring to life in you?

Spicy Martha Stewart

It’s ok, and arguably necessary at times, to mix-up your classic pieces with something totally unexpected…like a red sequence skirt! Keep everything else classic and predictable and then add an eye-catching flare. Why? Because YOU CAN!

WWDD?

Ok, so Dolly might not wear this outfit, but I can certainly wear it in her honor with all the sparkly pizzaz that Dolly’d certainly appreciate! Know that sequins isn’t limited to New Year’s Eve and prom nights, try it with some casual quirky pieces and let it out into the wild.

No Rules on Mules

Mules are not just for wide legged pants and skinny jeans, though I won’t ever give them up in those cases. Give them another opportunity though too by pairing them with something a little dressy just to change things up.
