blue

I wonder if blue feels really proud of itself for being the most favorited color by humans. I wonder if all the other colors walk by blue and shout, “you’re my boy blue!“ while throwing up unmet high-fives in the air across campus.

The truth is, you should throw up a high five because you can always rely on blue. Blue is loyal like no other. It’s calming nature offers peace and confidence. It’s trusty and reliable. And you always feel well taken care of by blue. I mean who doesn’t want blue in their life, am I right?!? Chances are on a non-self-isolated day, I would be able to look down at the lower half of my body and find a deep rich shade of blue. (Today it’s actually more of a Christmas themed fuzzy knit number of sorts. ) Blue denim has become our most loyal companion in our closet. We can count on it to finish off most any outfit without having to think about our look from the waist down. We know what will be there and we know it will work.

When I wear blue I feel secure, confident, and at peace. Thank you blue. You really are “my boy” (or you can be my girl because of course blue’s not just for boys). Its varying shades can be found throughout every season’s wardrobe in my closet and I’m thankful it’s there. Outside of what I wear, I’m drawn to blue when I require some kind of peace or calming. When I need to escape from the busyness or pangs of life I almost always head toward someplace where the water meets the sky. There is a literal exhale and renewing inhale that my soul experiences when I put myself in those places and it’s a gift I like to give to myself whenever I can.

What does blue bring to life in you?

Mixed-Up Maven

I love mixing classic style pieces (like this circle skirt) with as many eclectic items as possible. Mixing up the styles within your own wardrobe can open up a lot of doors to getting more looks out of your closet.

Granny Bags

Let it be known that I will carry any bag that looks like my grandmother owned it even though she didn’t and I got it at a thrift store! Someday I’ll let you in on the number of granny bags I have, but for right now I’ll just tell you it’s more than you think.

Call Me Doris

This mid-calf circle skirt gives me all the classic vintage silhouette vibes. Because it’s a heavier fabric it offers a really great swing which basically makes me feel like Doris Day without the petticoat.
